SUSTAINABILITY & ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT
At Nuvo Dental, we recognise that delivering high-quality oral healthcare must go hand in hand with environmental responsibility. We are actively transitioning towards a lower-waste, low-carbon model of dentistry and have already introduced a number of practical measures across our practices.
Reducing Clinical & Material Waste
- Digital dentistry first — We have significantly reduced physical impression materials by adopting intraoral scanners across our sites. This removes the need for alginate, silicone and plaster models, cutting both material waste and transport-related emissions.
- Secure digital referrals & paperless patient records — Wherever possible, laboratory prescriptions, clinical notes and treatment plans are handled electronically.
- Single-use items reviewed regularly — We source biodegradable or recyclable alternatives where clinically permissible and work with suppliers to minimise over-packaging.
Responsible Procurement & Supply Chain
- Preferred suppliers selected based on environmental credentials, not just cost including laboratories with digital-first workflows and couriers offering consolidated deliveries.
- Energy contracts prioritise renewable sources — Where available, we have switched to green electricity tariffs for our practices.
Sustainable Transport & Workforce Initiatives
- Cycle-to-Work Scheme — We actively promote low-carbon commuting and have team members already enrolled.
- Encouragement of car sharing and public transport use, particularly in urban locations where bus and rail links are accessible.
- Flexible scheduling to reduce unnecessary travel between sites for clinical and management staff.
Resource Efficiency in Premises
- LED lighting across premises, with motion sensors installed in non-clinical areas.
- Automatic shut-off protocols for decontamination rooms, compressors and IT equipment outside clinical hours.
Social & Community Responsibility
- Local recruitment where possible, reducing travel footprints and supporting the regional economy.
- Partnership with charities / local oral health initiatives. raising awareness with DKMS (delete blood cancer) being involved in donor drives and annual fundraising
- Waste contractors selected based on high recycling and recovery rates, ensuring minimal landfill.
Continuous Improvement
We treat sustainability as a live process. Each year, we will:
- Review energy consumption and identify reduction targets.
- Audit material waste and expand digital workflows.
- Engage staff in new ideas through suggestion schemes and green champions.
