At Nuvo Dental Centre, we prioritise preventive dental care, which means putting dental hygiene front and centre when it comes to our care offerings. Our team of hygienists are experts when it comes to keeping our patients’ dental hygiene in tip top condition and can help tailor bespoke care plans for individual patients.

Why is dental hygiene so important?

Dental hygiene is the first step in every preventive care journey. Good dental hygiene can help prevent a myriad of different oral health issues, including tooth decay and gum disease, which in turn can help keep intervention to a minimum.

What constitutes good dental hygiene?

At Nuvo Dental Centre, good dental hygiene is made up of at-home care routines and regular visits to our hygiene team. We encourage our patients to have a dental hygiene appointment at least twice a year. At these appointments, our highly trained and welcoming dental hygienists will be able to keep an eye on your dental hygiene, offering advice on at-home care, and referring to your dental team as needed.

What happens during a dental hygiene appointment?

Your dental hygienist will perform a general review of the mouth and gums, followed by a thorough clean of the teeth, which will help remove plaque, tartar, and debris as well as some superficial staining from the teeth. They also offer advice on home care, and can create a bespoke routine based on your individual needs.

What should I be doing at home?

We can develop a care routine to follow at home for each individual patient, but we always recommend:

Brushing your teeth at least twice a day for two-three minutes with fluoride toothpaste
Flossing daily
Brushing your tongue as well as your teeth
Changing your toothbrush or toothbrush head every three months

The reception staff are always friendly and efficient as are the dental team. My last visit was a check up. I didn't need treatment but the dentist gave me a clean up removing any build up the electric tooth brush and tooth pick failed to remove. All done in 15 minutes. I would highly recommend this dental surgery, I have been a patient on their books for over 10 years.

Nuvo Dental + Implant Centre is my regular place to visit for all of my dental needs.
